Everyone’s favorite neighborhood sausage factory-slash-brewery has introduced a new sausage to their ever-expanding menu: the Dutch rookworst (RMB 70 served in a baguette with a side salad and fries). The rookworst is a traditional Dutch smoked pork sausage made with saltpeter, sugar, and nutmeg.
Stuff’d‘s version is delicious and reminds me of the varieties found at home. It’s fuller character makes it a winter treat, both here and in the Netherlands.
I guess us Dutchies will be waiting for Stuff’d (hint, hint Thomas and Will) to introduce stamppot (potatoes mashed with another vegetable, usually carrot, spinach, kale or turnip, and some bacon if desired) on the side of the rookworst, some of the more traditional winter dishes to originate in the Netherlands.
