AmCham China and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace welcome back Yukon Huang to speak about the Chinese economy and why Americans perceive China as the world’s leading economic power while the rest of the world sees it differently.
No other country generates such divergent views about its economy. Some popular perceptions are that China is facing an imminent financial crisis, its unbalanced growth model is a vulnerability, its state-owned enterprises are less productive than private firms or its rapidly upgrading technologies are threatening America’s dominance. What if these assumptions are wrong and, if so, are the policy prescriptions off the mark?
