The only singer to gain a standing ovation from American Idol judge Simon Cowell, Adam Lambert has broken the mold of most of the show’s male contestants by actually staying relevant in the world of pop music. Though he was runner-up in the finals of the 2009 season of American Idol, he has used his unique vocal chops to propel his career to stages around the world, subsequently putting him in the top 10 money earning former American Idol contestants.
You can check him out at the Beijing Exhibition Center on January 3. Tickets are now available through Damai (RMB 780, 980), and are going quick. He will be performing songs from his June full length release The Original High, the follow up to his chart-topping Trespassing. While this won’t be his first gig in China, as he actually just performed at Beijing’s Water Cube on November 10 for a massive Singles Day event that was broadcast on national television. He is massively popular here despite his LGBT activism being largely ignored by the media.
Who knows, maybe he will have his own strange fan fiction in the time leading up to his performance. We would like to suggest a cute ghost story, something along the lines of Ghost Dad or the classic Marlon Wayans film The 6th Man, but involving Freddie Mercury. Just an idea because along with his solo star power he has also been the frontman of the legendary group Queen since 2012, filling in the massive void left by Freddie Mercury’s passing in 1991, which if you have two hours to spare you can sample below:
